Durante l'intervista al Beverly Hills Hotel è ancora fuori fase per via dell’after-party della sera prima. E’ vestito con scarpe da ginnastica Nike, jeans e camicia Acne, con berretto,barbetta e sigaretta elettronica a portata di mano. Ma non è mai stato così di buon umore.
Preferisce la vita da single a quella da fidanzati?
“Non c'è una buona risposta a questa domanda “ dice. Per gli altri, a quanto pare,c’è.
Non appena ti sei lasciato dietro di te Twilight,hai in delirio un’altra generazione per il tuo ruolo di modello per Dior Homme. Sei venuto a patti con tuo stato di sex symbol?
(ride) E 'stata una mossa intenzionale.Sono più vecchio adesso .Fino all'anno scorso, mi sono sentito come un bambino, impacciato e insicuro. Tutto sembrava accadere solo a me, sono stato semplicemente fortunato.Il mio ego è dovuto venire a patti con questo. Ma ora ho una carriera da pianificare.
Dove sei diretto?
Mi piacerebbe continuare a fare film “dark” , ma devo rimanere sul radar per finanziare questi progetti indie. Certo, dopo Twilight ,avrei potuto fare un qualcosa in grande stile ma ho pensato che Dior fosse una cosa di gran classe. Non ho mai interpretato un personaggio veramente virile, erotico.
Potresti prenderti una pausa per un anno. O tornare a Londra.
Londra non è più il posto per me. L'ultima volta che ho realmente vissuto lì, nel mio appartamento, è stato sei anni fa e nel frattempo, quasi tutti i miei amici si sono trasferiti a New York e solo la mia famiglia è rimasta.
Dior ti presenta come un moderno James Dean.Vivi ogni giorno come fosse l'ultimo?
In qualche modo, si ... Se dovessi morire domani, sarebbe ok. Perchè non mi sono precluso nulla.Ma non ho una vita molto eccitante.
Qual è la cosa più eccitante che ti è accaduta ultimamente?
Guidare senza cintura.
Che ha importanza solo se sei ancora il cattivo guidatore che dicevi d’essere…
Sono un autista migliore adesso,non sono più ansioso. Deve essere dovuto alla mia nuova autostima.O forse per il fatto di essere rimasto bloccato nel traffico per troppo tempo.Devi solo essere abbastanza frustato per lasciar andare via le paure.
Chi ti tiene al sicuro nella tua vita da celebrità?
Non ho un agente.Posso dire di no per conto mio. I miei cani, però,Bear e Bernadette sono diventati dei bravi cani da guardia.Spaventano chiunque si avvicini a casa mia.Ma io non possiedo nulla di valore,al massimo potrebbero rubare il mio divano (ride)
Qual è il tuo più grande lusso?
In realtà, spendo la maggior parte dei soldi in biglietti aerei. Un volo di prima classe da L.A. a Londra costa $20.000. Poi, $ 200 per un paio di jeans sembrano troppi.
Ma ti piacciono ancora gli abiti firmati?
Assolutamente. Ho uno strano rapporto con i miei vestiti, li indosso solo una volta,ma non riesco a separarmene.Devo averne un migliaio conservati.
Suona come abbastanza inutile.
Io preferisco bere birra che fare esercizi. Ma sono venuto a patti con il fatto che il mio aspetto fa parte del mio marchio.Si investe tutto in quel marchio che si spera porti lavoro.
Ciò significa che sul red carpet ti mettono tanta pressione?
Io continuo ad avere attacchi di panico (ride). Mi viene un’ansia acuta,come se avessi la percezione che il mio corpo si accartocci,o forse ho solo paura di aver scelto il vestito sbagliato. Il mio stilista, Ryan Hastings,mi fa letteralmente impazzire con le sue numerose opzioni.
Sembra funzionare, però,sei sempre nella lista dei meglio vestiti
Quello è veramente grazie a Ryan.Anche se l’ultimo completo di Gucci indossato alla premiere di Twilight(Breaking Dawn parte 2) è stato una mia idea.Un suggestivo verde smeraldo.

Hai un olfatto sensibile?
Sì,riesco a sentire l’odore quando qualcuno è a disagio o sta mentendo. E’ un odore aspro.
Come odorava la prima donna della tua vita?
La mia ragazza quando avevo dodici anni?Di sapone e detersivo per lavatrice. E’ stato strano. Penso sia un bene essere un po’ sporchi.

Maybe this sexy production to introduce him as the new face of Dior Hommeis meant as a farewell to his Twilight-love Kristen Stewart: passionate, unconventional, surrounded by half-naked beauties. A clever move from Dior and a change of image for Rob. From teen-idol to man. During the interview at the Beverly Hills Hotel he's still hungover from last night's premiere-party. Dressed in Nike sneakers, Jeans and Acne shirt, with cap and scruff, his electronic cigarette at the ready. But he's hardly ever been in such a good mood. Does he prefer the single-life to togetherness? "There's no good answer to that question" he says. For others, it seems, there are.
Q: As soon as you have left Twilight behind you, you´re having the next generation swoon as a model for Dior Homme. Have you come to terms with your sex-symbol status?
A: (laughs) It was a deliberate move. I'm older now. Until last year, I felt like a child, self-conscious and insecure. Everything seemed to just happen to me, I was simply very lucky. My ego had to catch up with that, too. But now I have a career to plan.
Q: Where are you heading?
A: I'd like to keep making "obscure" movies, but I also have to stay on the radar to finance these indie-projects. Sure, after Twilight I could have just done the next big studio-thing, but I thought that Dior is so classy. I've never really played a truly masculine, erotic character.
Q: You could take a break for a year. Or go back to London.
A: London isn't the same place for me anymore. The last time I really lived there, in my own appartement, was six years ago and meanwhile, almost all my friends have moved to New York and only my family is left.
Q: Dior presents you as a modern James Dean. Do you live like every day was your last?
A: Somehow, yes... If I were to die tomorrow, it would be ok. Cause I didn´t deny myself anything. But I don´t have a very exciting life.
Q: What was the most exciting thing that has happened to you lately?
A: Not putting my seatbelt on while driving!
Q: That only counts if you're still the bad driver you used to claim to be.
A: I'm a much better driver now, not that anxious anymore. Must be because of my new self-esteem. Or because I was stuck in traffic for too long. You just have to be frustrated enough to lose all your fears!
Q: Who keeps you save in your life as a celebrity?
A: I don't have an agent. I can say No on my own. My dogs though, Bear and Bernadette, they've grown into some serious guard dogs. They're chasing away anyone who comes near my house. But I don't own anything of value, you could only steal my couch (laughs)
Q: What is your biggest luxury?
A: Actually, I spend most money on flight tickets. A first class flight from L.A. to London is $20.000. Then, $200 for a pair of jeans seems too much.
Q: But you still like designer suits.
A: Absolutely. I have a strange relationship with my suits; I wear them only once, but I can't seem to part with them. There must be a thousand in storage.
Q: Sounds quite vain.
A: I still prefer drinking beer to working out. But I've come to terms with the fact that my looks are part of my brand. Everything I invest in that brand hopefully leads to another job.
Q: Does that mean that on the red carpet, you're putting as much pressure on yourself as your females colleagues do?
A: I keep having panic-attacks (laughs). Acute anxiety from twisted body perception or maybe I'm just afraid that I've picked the wrong outfit. My stylist, Ryan Hastings, is driving me crazy with his many options.
Q: It seems to work, though, you always and up on the "best dressed"-list.
A: That´s thanks to Ryan, too. Although, that Gucci suit from the last Twilight premiere, I designed that myself. Emerald houndstooth.
Q: Are you wearing strictly Dior now?
A: On my skin, definitely (laughs)
Q: Do you have a sensitive nose?
A: Yes. I can smell when someone feels uncomfortable or is lying. It smells sourly.
Q: How did the first woman in your life smell?
A: My girlfriend when I was twelve? Like soap and laundry detergent. That was strange. I think it´s ok to be a little dirty...
